Priority Health and Safety now Director Approved (OWWCO)

As of February 15, 2011 Priority Health and Safety has met the criteria to be Director approved continuing education for WHMIS and Fall Protection. As of September 30, 2011 we have added Fuel Safety and Forklift Safety to the list. Call the office at 705-201-1224 for more information.

Be prepared - MOL will be inspecting 500 companies which have not reported an injury for three consecutive years.

New Course as of : Snow Plow Safety

The Snow Plow course focusses on topics other than the snow plow, the checklists and the driving of the plow itself. These topics will be covered but only by way of reference so as to give the operators a change from the yearly review of these familiar topics.

The course covers pertinent legislation, defensive driving, driver fitness, Violence and Harassment, the effects of weather on roads, structures and salt mixtures used, among other things. The last session of the day will include a review of any MSDS that may be used by the municipality, especially the MSDS for diesel fuel. There will be copies for the whole class to look at. In the final session, for those who have done Fuel Safety training, load safety and chains and cables along with a summary of fuel safety can be covered instead. Make sure to request that change if you desire it.

New and Young Workers

Topics covered include An Introduction to the Occupational Health and Safety Act (OHSA); the Responsibilities of the Employer, the Supervisor and the Worker; Worker's Rights; Hazards in the Workplace; Control of Hazards; WHMIS and Fuel Safety, In the event of an injury - First Aid and WSIB. The employer may choose to review the topics of job descriptions, workplace rules, codes of conduct including harrassment and violence in the workplace along with the health and safety trainer.
